Harvest Fair at Coggeshall Farm Museum

It’s the 44th year of celebrating the bounty of the garden at the Annual Harvest Fair at Coggeshall Farm Museum in Bristol. Experience this uniquely New England event held at Bristol’s living history farm — a 48-acre bucolic sanctuary which depicts life on a Rhode Island farm in 1799.

While farm life before the industrial revolution was day after day of grueling physical labor, the fair takes a lighter approach in showcasing agrarian pursuits. Take a hay ride or toss a hay bale. Pet a goat or hand-milk a cow. Test your aim and accuracy in a watermelon seed spitting contest. And show off your finest farm footwear in the Muck Book Fashion Show.

The festival lasts through the weekend, from 10 am to 4 pm both Saturday and Sunday. Along with country games and farm demonstrations, there will be music, face painting, crafts and lots and lots of food (that’s what a farm is all about, right?) Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for kids ages 3-12 and seniors 65+. For more info, visit their website at http://www.coggeshallfarm.org/
