Improv with The Bit Players

Are you in the mood to do something spontaneous? The Bit Players have been in that mood since 2007.

The Bit Players are a Newport improv group putting on shows reminiscent of the TV hit “Whose Line is it Anyway?” As with all improv, the shows are dictated by the audience’s suggestions, with nothing scripted in advance. As you’d imagine, to remain this mentally limber takes a lot of practice, which may explain why you can find the Bit Players at their charming 75-seat home, The Firehouse Theater, every Friday and Saturday from 8 pm - 9:45 pm.

There’s a lot to say for Bit Player shows. They’re Rhode Island’s most award winning comedy troupe, voted "Best Comedy Night" by The Providence Phoenix and "Comedy Troupe of the Year" by Motif Magazine multiple times. Second, tickets are reasonable – just $18/person for the Friday evening show – and all shows at The Firehouse are BYOB (this is important, as most comedy clubs make their money on overpriced, watery drinks.) For both these reasons, Bit Players tickets go fast – it’s important to call for reservations in advance at 401-849-FIRE (3473) or purchase tickets here: http://www.firehousetheater.org/calendar/

There is no age limit but shows are promoted as PG-13. The Bits try to keep the content as high-brow and clean as possible but there is no guarantee what audience members will yell out. Adults are encouraged to use their own discretion as to what they deem appropriate for their children/party.
