Day Out with Thomas at Essex
Reading Thomas the Tank Engine may make any kid’s day, but riding with him is the stuff of a truly memorable weekend. And if you’d like the opportunity to meet the little blue engine, not to mention the photo opportunity, Thomas and his whole gang will be making the journey from the Island of Sodor to Essex Steam Train for three weekends this year.
Your first chance comes Saturday, April 21st, and the fun goes way beyond a 25-minute train ride. Along with a chance to meet other book characters – Sir Topham Hatt (the Controller of the Railway) and Percy the Small Green Engine (Thomas’ BFF) are Thomas’ travelling companions – Essex Steam Train has a full day’s worth of activities, all included with your admission. Among them: five carnival rides that the kids can enjoy to their hearts’ content, face painting, a magic show, a kid-friendly petting zoo, a clown creating colorful balloon characters, and 30-minute children’s music shows with the beloved Sunny Train that take place throughout the day.
Tickets are $25 per person (kids under 2 are free) and Thomas trips depart every 45 minutes from 9 AM to 5:15 PM (you select an available departure time when purchasing a ticket.) If you can’t make it April 21, Thomas returns the next two weekends – April 28 and 29, as well as May 5 and 6.
