Rhode Island Home and Garden Show
So, you’ve had about five inches of snow already, and you’re ready for a taste of spring? For four days – Thursday, April 5 to Sunday, April 8, the place you want to be is the Annual Rhode Island Home Show at the RI Convention Center.
If you’re a dedicated flower or vegetable gardener, it’s a dream world, with a variety of speakers taking the stage every hour between 11 AM and 3 PM, live demonstrations taking place on the floor, and magnificent garden displays giving you inspiration for what to do when the snow stops falling. But it’s a nice stop for families as well – with “please touch” exhibits, and unique gardens that include a life-sized fairy house, a tunnel garden, and a tree house. Kids will especially enjoy the Kids Adventure Zone on the fifth floor, with scheduled presentations that include storytelling, puppet shows, and animal demonstrations. Plus on-going self-guided nature activities such as touch tanks, nature discovery tables, and scavenger hunts.
Show time hours are Thursday & Friday 12 PM to 9 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 9 PM, and Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM. Aisles are wide enough so it never feels uncomfortably crowded, but if you’d like more space, crowd tends to thin a bit after 3 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance for adults ($8 for seniors and FREE for children 15 and under). For more information, go to http://ribahomeshow.com/
