Bring a Kid Golfing
Are you a golfing enthusiast, always trying to find an excuse to introduce your kid to the game? Pequot Golf Course has an idea you might not want to pass up – a two-fer where you pay full freight, and your kid plays along for free.
Pequot Golf Club is one of southeastern Connecticut most enjoyable golfing experiences, with rolling terrain that winds through the Connecticut woods. Designed by the late Wendell Ross, it’s good enough to have been played by Jack Nicklaus (who set the official course record of 65 in 1966), but forgiving enough to make it rewarding for all skill levels – which gets us back to the two-fer. Bring your kid after 3:00 pm on Saturdays, and if you pay the usual $18 post-3pm weekend rate, Junior under 18 is a freebie. For $20, you can even rent golf clubs.
Pequot is spectacularly located just a stone’s throw from Mystic (home of Mystic Aquarium and Mystic Seaport), and the spectacular Stonington Borough, a charming town with several good restaurants and quaint inns (stoningtonboroughct.com). And if you elect not to take the kids, it’s not that much further from Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos.
