Essex Clipper Dinner Train

If you want a feel for what the luxury trains of yesteryear must have been like, the Essex Clipper gives you a taste. Literally a taste, as you’ll enjoy a four-course meal served in beautifully restored 1920's Pullman diners.

As these things go, it’s a top of the line experience. The scenery on the 2½ hour train ride is breathtaking, as you journey through the pristine Connecticut River Valley – designated one of the “last great places on Earth” by the Nature Conservancy. The food you choose definitely won’t disappoint. There’s even a cash bar. Vegetarian meals are available if you request them when making reservations.

The cost is $82.50 per person – not cheap – but it’s a sightseeing trip, too. Dinner trains run Friday through Sunday evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons from May through October. This Sunday afternoon departs at 4:00 pm. Purchase tickets online at http://essexsteamtrain.com/

Many people celebrate special occasions on the Clipper, and the friendly staff is happy to cater to anniversary couples or birthday celebrations. Inquire about a festive cake, or upgrade with unexpected touches: a rose, floral arrangements or a box of chocolates.
