The Newport Flower Show
Gilded Age "cottages" were built with every convenience, designed for entertaining and to represent a lifestyle. Today's cottages, much like their gilded ancestors, are also about lifestyle. This year's celebration, which takes place June 22 to 24, the Newport Flower Show is celebrating the tiniest of homes, which are smart in both technology and style.
The front lawn of Rosecliff will be transformed into a Tiny House Village, complete with four tiny homes and their adjacent sustainable gardens. A Tiny Traveling Theater on the front lawn will host rotating pop-up lectures and demonstrations throughout the weekend.
This year’s show highlights for guests colorful floral designs, special garden displays, judged horticultural exhibits, unique shopping opportunities, champagne & jazz brunch, afternoon tea, and children's activities. Featured special guests include Martha Stewart and Sachi Rose Pollard.
The show includes several lectures and demonstrations (admission to some is included in the entry fee, others require separate ticketing.) Even if you’re not a dedicated gardening fan, Rosecliff itself (one of Newport’s Gilded Age mansions, modeled by architect Stanford White after Marie Antoinette’s Grand Trianon mansion in Versailles) is well worth a visit.
The Newport Flower Show runs Friday through Sunday, June 22-24, from 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Fri.), and 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Sat. and Sun.) Admission is $25 at the door and $20 in advance. Group admission is $15 per person per day.
