Sleeping Giant Tower Trail

Ready for warmer weather? Enjoy a nice Summer day by hiking up the Sleeping Giant Tower Trail in Southern Connecticut.

Sleeping Giant Tower Trail is a 3 mile out and back trail located near Hamden, Connecticut that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options including picnicking and stream fishing, and is accessible year-round. Great place to hike with the family.

The Tower Trail is the most popular trail at Sleeping Giant State Park. Two miles of mountaintop resembling a sleeping giant give this park its name. This 1.6 mile trail to the 739 foot summit of Mt. Carmel starts at the picnic area across from Quinnipiac University. It is wide and meanders up the side of Mt. Carmel ending at a 4-story stone observation tower offering excellent views of Connecticut's skyline. Visitors can climb up to explore the tower and overlook the city of New Haven and Long Island Sound.

Perfect hike to bring your dog, but must be kept on a leash. Don't forget to bring water for both you and your pup! It's a beautiful discovery waiting for you climb.
