Barnstable County Fair

It’s completely unfair for us to confine the weeklong Barnstable County Fair to just one of its seven days (it actually runs July 23-29) or to a mere handful of paragraphs (we could go on and on), so we apologize in advance. But as for the event itself, it’s unapologetically fun.

Since 1844, the Barnstable County Fair has been a highlight of every Cape Cod summer. From classics like horticultural exhibits, to exciting additions like this year’s Team Extreme/FMX MotoCross, where motorcyclists do flips and acrobatics, the Fair never gets old. If you’ve got an animal lover, don’t miss the horse shows and petting zoo.

If you happen to come on Thursday, The Romantics will be performing on the Main Stage at 7:30 pm. Every day at the Barnstable County Fair is filled with something new to do, animals to see, fun foods to eat, rides to experience and local and world-famous acts to entertain you. Check the website for the full daily schedule.

Be sure to stop by the Fair’s midway, home to amusements that will flip you, twist you and leave you shrieking.  Fuel up afterwards at the dozens of food vendors, all situated near the Fair’s main stage for easy viewing of each evening’s family-friendly concert.

Gates open at 4pm Monday through Thursday, and at noon Friday through Sunday. (Midway closes at 11 pm; 10 pm Sunday) Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for seniors and military and $5 for kids 6-11 with paid adult.  Five and under are free.  Tickets for Midway rides are available inside the fair, with 25 tickets for $20, or 40 tickets for $30. Both free and paid parking is available. Visit the website for directions.
