Providence Restaurant Weeks
When it began ten years back, Providence Restaurant Week was one week, singular. Since then, it has grown in every way: from one week to two (starts July 8 and ends July 21, 2018); from once a year to twice (it recurs in January); and from 40 restaurants to close to 100.
As you’d expect, there’s a reason for this kind of success. First, Providence is a relatively undiscovered culinary gem (Saveur Magazine called it “one of the notable small dining destinations in the world”) and some of the restaurants that have earned it that kind of reputation have participated in Restaurant Week(s) from the beginning. Second, the town itself is a discovery – Travel + Leisure readers voted it the #1 City in the US. That’s no small feat.
Taking part in this food fest is easy. Each restaurant features a three-course prix fixe menu ($29.95 or $34.95), and about half of them participate during lunch as well ($16.95 for a three-course -- drinks and tips, of course, are never included.) If you’re looking for an especially good deal, some restaurants even offer two-for-one specials.
