While the end of summer is bittersweet, the Summer’s End concert in East Greenwich, RI brings plenty of sweetness to look forward to. Every Labor Day weekend for the past 20 years, the town has joined together for a piece of good old-fashioned Americana that isn’t often found.
Spread your picnic blanket, catch up with old friends and chat up some new ones – veteran concert-goers are eager to share their experiences of Summer’s Ends past. This year’s music lineup is TBA. Enjoy a last taste of classic summer fare, offered up by vendors, or pack a picnic dinner.
Admission to the concert is free, though donations are greatly appreciated. Gates open at 4pm, and many folks will start staking out their spots then. The music will begin at 5:30 and continue into the evening. It tends to get dark by the end of the concert – the field lights come on, but a flashlight isn’t a bad idea, especially for little ones. Rain date: Saturday, September 1.
