When “Woodstock” comes to mind, it’s rarely accompanied by thoughts of corn dogs, cattle and down-home Americana. But that’s exactly what this Woodstock is all about. The Woodstock Fair features crafts, agriculture and animal contests, plus a classic Midway full of amusements for adventure-seekers. Fair visitors can catch a tractor pull, snack on favorite fair concessions and even stop by the birthing center, where they may be lucky enough to see a calf’s first seconds of life.
Perennial favorites also include a blueberry pie-eating contest and concerts ranging from local country artists to past year’s Red Hot Chili Pipers, direct from Scotland. Kids of all ages will be thrilled by the Midway’s classic carnival rides – individual tickets are available, with an all-you-can-ride wristband offered on Friday.
The Fair runs all Labor Day weekend, from August 31st through September 3rd, with the gates opening at 9am each day. General Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors 65+ and active military. Kids 10 and under are free. Parking fee on the fairgrounds is $5. Visit http://woodstockfair.com/ for a complete schedule of events.
