Fine Furnishings Show
If handmade furniture is something you don’t mind going out of your way for, the Pawtucket Fine Furnishings Show is this weekend, just a bit off the usual tourist track at the Waterfire Arts Center.
Exhibitors include over 100 master craftsmen and craftswomen plus students (from RISD and elsewhere), with handcrafted furniture being the centerpiece. You’ll also find rug weavers, potters, artists and more, most of them from the New England area. All work is for sale, or you can commission something; styles, materials and prices differ. Admission is $10; parking is free. Hours are Friday 5-9 pm; Saturday 10-6; Sunday 10-4.
If you haven’t quite gotten your fill, the next day (or the next, as it’s a two-day event -- Saturday and Sunday, November 10 and 11) you might want to buzz by the Providence Fall Home Show, which is also in town at the Rhode Island Convention Center (1 Sabin Street, Providence). It’s got home decorators, cabinet makers, and all kinds of contractors. Cost is $10 adults, $8 seniors, kids 12 and under free.
