BRT Summer Solstice Festival

BRT stands for Blackstone River Theater, a neat little cultural arts center that’s dedicated to preserving the Blackstone Corridor’s traditional arts, and is known for their quality performances. So it won’t surprise you that, even when removed from their usual cozy venue (the theater is located at 549 Broad Street, Cumberland) they still put on quite a show.

This is the 9th year for the Summer Solstice Festival, a family-friendly festival which runs all day (11:00 AM to 7:00 PM)  at Diamond Hill Park (4097 Diamond Hill Road) in Cumberland. It features three music stages, a dance stage, a session tent, and a children’s activity area, all operating at the same time -- plus more than 40 food and craft vendors. Performing will be (among others) the Atwater-Donnelly Trio, The Hanneke Cassel Band, High Time (from Ireland), La Croisee D’Antan(from Quebec), and a dedicated stage for Irish step dancing feature Tir Na Nog Irish Dance. Last year saw more than 1,200 people attend.

Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $5 for children, and free for children under 5. (there is a small service fee when you book online.)
