Block Island Old Harbor Walking Tour

4. Block Island Conservancy Education Center

Over 45% of Block Island is undeveloped land, and the Block Island Conservancy is one of the primary organizations we have to thank – celebrating the natural heritage of the Island on a daily basis at its Education Center. For teens and adults, the Conservancy offers a wealth of information about the Island’s rural character, natural heritage and the many past, present and future initiatives to protect the Island’s natural environment and resources. They also have a water bottle refilling station, great merchandise for sale, and a scavenger hunt where you can earn a badge. For the younger set, there are self-led craft and learning stations where kids can have fun while learning more about clouds, constellations, and the natural beauty and bounty of Block Island. The Education Center is typically open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the high season, but it’s always a good idea to call first if you’re making a special trip into town.
