Base Station VR Lounge
Want a glimpse of the future? Base Station VR Lounge, Rhode Island first dedicated Virtual Reality arcade, can give you a long look – like up to three hours on any given day.
Base Station VR is on Thayer Street close to Brown University, and it’s not the fanciest place. What it does have is the really good VR headsets – not the cheaper ones that you put a phone into -- that give you the truly immersive experience that is what VR is all about, and a library of more than 75 experiences, not all of which are games.
Base Station VR has a number of headsets, each having an 8’ x 8’ space for wearers to physically move around. Better yet, it has multiple stations, which gives you the opportunity of playing multiple VR games with friends. You can rent out a single headset for 15 minutes for yourself, or rent out all 5 headsets and share them for up to three hours. Prices aren’t inexpensive, though you’re sharing the cost with friends. By the way, though they do sell some soda and drinks, you’re welcome to bring food – even cake. It’s a guaranteed hit for birthday parties.
